American University, 'a vibrant campus'

To say that American University is my dream college would be an understatement. I got to visit AU in October and my mind was completely blown away. The staff and students were very hospitable. As I entered Bender Arena I was greeted by smiling faces. I went to a registration table and AU representatives handed me the information that I needed for the day and my nametag. I was surprised to see that they put the accent mark on the second 'o' in my last name. I'm not sure why but this made me happy...

...I felt as if they were embracing the fact that students come from different backgrounds and they want to cater to every student. Afterwards, representatives of AU kindly directed me to where I was supposed to be headed. After sitting in the bleachers and hearing an opening from the Acting Director of Admissions Greg Grauman we heard a speech from AU's President. The speech by President Cornelius M. Kerwin was very informative and helpful for prospective students and parents. He commented on the admissions process and he reassured the prospective students attending that they are more than just a G.PA and test scores. AU has six different schools. I got to visit the SOC or School of Communication seminar and learned so much about it. I got to meet three of the SOC's professors and even got to dine with one of them. My visit to AU exceeded my expectations. I'd recommend that anyone who might be considering AU go to a preview day.
