Zooey Deschanel: a performer to look up to

I’ve always been drawn to actress/singer Zooey Deschanel. From the first time I saw “Elf” and heard her voice, I knew she was something special. I spent days wandering around my house singing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” imitating her performance of it in that movie.
She & Him, her band with M. Ward, is folk and classic. Her voice is memorable and could be easily confused with some old ’60s band. Deschanel doesn’t seem to have an ego even though she stars in Hollywood movies and performs on stage with She & Him.
“(500) Days of Summer” is one of my favorite movies partly because of her. I received it as a Valentine’s Day present, but it’s become much more than a present to me.
Music and film aren’t the only things she’s been recognized for lately. Fashion has become a new forte of hers as well. She’s been featured on the covers of Nylon, Lucky, Self, to name a few.
With no doubt of her it-girl status, Deschanel isn’t caught up in the Hollywood controversies or paparazzi. She hasn’t been to jail or been caught exposed. In one word, she’s respectable, just as a role model should be.
