The flood is receding, but the land is ravaged. There are a lot of cars passing by on the road right now, but I can’t get down there. Let me put it this way- I don’t have to go anywhere I don’t want to go today, but I can’t go anywhere I want, either.
I wonder what kind of interesting flood crud will wash up on our land. In the past, I have found chairs, picnic tables, a fire extinguisher, hula hoops, backpacks, tires, a toolbox and an abundance of inflatable balls. Not to mention lots of logs and branches on the driveway, which is gravel, so every year when a flood comes I have to help clear and repair it. I’m lucky that the power is still on so I can write this.
