30 minutes. Could you survive without your phone for that long in the wake of day?
Recently, while dining with friends for Valentine’s Day I noticed something; silence. Minimal chatter and maximum phone time consumed the night. These are my best friends, yet we could barely tap out for 20 minutes to tune into each other.
Society is changing, I get that, but do we have to lower our standard of social manners? Constant phone use during dining gives off the impression what the other person has to say is not important and there are better things to do and people to talk to.
If you have an emergency or really feel the need to use your phone in the presence of company during a meal, excuse yourself. Common courtesy never goes out of style.
In 30 minutes: relax, dine, savor your food and appreciate your company.
