Imagine yourself sitting alone on a Friday night, bored with nothing to do. Now rewind and imagine if instead you and all your friends went to the Lock-In, an energizing, fun and exciting event that will keep you entertained all night long.
The third annual Teen Lock-In is March 15-16 at the Southern York County YMCA in Shrewsbury. The event, which is sponsored by the YMCA and local churches, includes pizza, snacks, swimming, basketball, volleyball, roller skating, a sport wall, pool table, speaker, a worship band.
Aubrey Scott, a junior at Susquehannock High School, said she participates in the Lock-In.
“[I love the Lock-In because] there are so many ways to keep busy and you meet new friends,” Scott said.
Personally, I have attended the Lock-In all three years, and each time the Lock-In has never disappointed me; all I have taken away from it has been positive. There is no doubt it is a great way to spend the weekend, as it is entertaining, exciting and energizing. I have walked away each year with new friends and meaningful memories that I made with my fellow peers.
The event begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m. With more than 100 teens coming together, it’s a night to simply forget all about school, the argument you had over dinner and early curfews, to just have fun hanging out with friends; and at the same time maybe meet some new people.
All of these fun activities are available to all teens for $15 If any youth groups or churches are interested in coming, they can register for the Lock-In by emailing either Matt Doran at email@example.com or Tim Dance at firstname.lastname@example.org by March 8.
