Frozen yogurt has become the latest craze to hit the country and has put an end to the recent cupcake phenomenon. It’s out with the iced and sprinkled and in with the creamy and fruity.
York County has been experiencing it’s own fair share of frozen yogurt businesses opening up, including the latest addition My Sweet Cup, which just opened in the George Street shopping plaza. My curiosity got the best of me and I ventured out to the shop to see what it was like.
The minute I walked in the door I felt like I was in the parallel universe version of Sweet Frog. The layout was exactly the same and included the same pink and white colors that so brightly decorate Sweet Frog. It was eerie to walk through the shop and notice the many similarities.
The only difference I saw was the lack of flavor variety, which could be attributed to them only being open for a few days. However, what they lacked for in yogurt flavor they made up for in sauces. An entire table was set up, purely devoted to chocolate, carmel, strawberry, and peanut butter sauces to add to your yogurt.
The toppings we’re also unique and although there wasn’t the wide assortment that Sweet Frog offers, it provided new things to try, such as Kashi granola. It was nice to see the business take a risk by providing not so common toppings.
While it did seem like My Sweet Cup got most of it’s inspiration from Sweet Frog, it didn’t detract from the overall experience. The yogurt was good and the workers were friendly. Frozen yogurt won’t be a trend forever, but for now it’s good enough to have as a sweet treat in these hot summer months.
