6:50 p.m.: As we count down the minutes to kickoff, let's pause for a moment to consider the magnitude of what this Pennsylvania high school football player did last night.

From The Associated Press:

HARBORCREEK — Harbor Creek’s Steven Blose set a single-game Pennsylvania high school rushing record with 490 yards in a 56-22 victory over Fort LeBeouf on Friday night.

Blose also scored six touchdowns on runs of 1, 46, 46, 63, 77, and 89 yards.

Blose, a senior, had gained 381 yards in Harbor Creek’s first two games, then missed three games with a hamstring injury.

He broke a record set in 2000 by Connellsville’s Marcus Furman, who gained 455 yards in a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District 7 game against Hempfield.

Harborcreek is 3-3 on the year and competes in District 10, which consists of schools in Erie and other schools in the northwestern part of the state.
