Longtime Baltimore Oriole Elrod Hendricks, who died of a heart attack Wednesday night, was the most active Oriole in showing up at community events.

"He was without comparison, Julie Wagner, Baltimore’s director of corporate relations, told The Baltimore Sun.

“He is the king of York, Wagner added. “You can’t go there without him or everybody says, ‘Where’s Elrod?’ No matter who you brought up — we brought Frank Robinson one time — if you didn’t have Elrod for York Sports Night, people were going to be disappointed.
