Fifth-grader Kevin Koliscak was just trying to do something nice for the students in his classroom at Spring Forge Intermediate School in Manchester.
So he entered a contest in which Turkey Hill and WQXA-FM (105.7) were seeking the biggest Philadelphia Eagles fans.
And he won.
In fact, the judges were so impressed with Kevin’s entry that, instead of rewarding just the members of Kevin’s classroom, Turkey Hill will throw an ice-cream party for the entire school on Thursday.
The catch?
Kevin is a Steelers fan.
His winning entry caught they eye of the judges because of the compassion it displayed for fans of the Eagles, who suffered through a 6-10 season.
Meanwhile, the Steelers — in case you missed it — will be playing Seattle in Super Bowl XL on Sunday.
In his winning entry, Kevin wrote: “We have only a few (like 2-3) EAGLES fans in my classroom of 24. My kids should win the prize pack for what they have to go through every day ... you see, I’m a HUGE STEELERS FAN! If they can make it in my room, they deserve to win something!
The was enough to sway the judges.
“I guess we just thought it was something that was a lot of fun ... and wanted to reward the whole school, said Turkey Hill spokesperson Dana Huber.
And the tasty prize for all those Spring Forge students?
Turkey Hill’s Eagles Touchdown Sundae ice cream, the Eagles’ official ice cream.
Which is probably something that fans of all teams can support.
