When people talk Susquehannock’s boys basketball, they tend to focus on Caleb Walls. When a guy can throw up 20 points against West York — possibly the best YAIAA team pound-for-pound — there must be something to talk about.

But the real hero of the Warriors' team is senior guard Mike Potteiger.

Friday night, I saw him shut down the Bulldogs Rob Estep, perhaps the most explosive boy in the YAIAA. This comes a week after he muzzled York Catholic’s Jacob Iati in the Holiday Classic, holding the gunner to six points.

Potteiger plays defense the way he ran the football for Tom Waranavage’s Division 2 champs this fall. He’s physical, play with heart and manages to get the job done even when physically overmatched.

“Michael has tremendous court leadership, Susquehannock coach Tom Laure said. “(That’s) not reflected in the stats.
