I am writing about the deer management. I think Pennsylvania ought to look at other states like Illinois and Iowa and see what there doing to get trophy deer. You say we need the buck to doe ratio closer to get trophy deer, visit Illinois and you see doe everywhere and trophy buck so I don't understand your concept on that. I understand we have harder winters, but we need to do away with rifles in the southeastern part of the state. I see farmers driving deer just about everyday of the season and then they shoot what ever comes out. The Game Commisssion needs to look at doing away with that also. If you drive deer and shoot everything that comes out how is that managing deer. Also half the farmers I know don't need a license and are shooting more than their limit. If you have crop damage they need to let the public hunt their ground or be held to the same standards every body else is. I normally see the Game Commission patrolling the State Game Lands, when they need to be patrolling some of the big private farms. Also as a state we need tougher penalties for poachers. I can show you several farms where deer are still being poached about every night of the week. The Game Commission has basically ruined hunting, and needs to do something positive for once to help are decreasing deer population. I hunt private and state ground and this has been the worst I have ever seen it. I spent 3 days hunting bear in Potter County and numerous hours in the woods and was lucky enough to see 6 deer. It is also hard to get kids interested in hunting when they sit in the cold for hours and don't even see a deer. We need to do something now before deer become a endangered species.
