The Boston Marathon will be run Monday. Here is a look at some of the local runners who will compete in the big event:

Brockway and buds: Chris Brockway is another one of those guys who will be running Boston with a different perspective.

Brockway will be in Boston with his twin brother, Mark, who lives in New Hope. He will travel north with two other local runners, Bob Brieghner and Bob Melcher, who will also tackle the Beantown course.

Brockway’s goal, however, is just to finish the race in one piece. He has been struggling with “the dreaded ITB/runners knee since November and is simply happy to be making the trip.

He credits his physical therapist, Diane Zimardo, with getting him in good enough shape to race Boston, and added that he is “looking forward to a nice slow run.

One of his running buddies, Melcher, is quite a story himself. Melcher, 47, has run the Grandfather Mountain Marathon the past five years, a race touted as one of the hardest marathons in the country. Oh, by the way, Melcher runs with a pacemaker.

Coach joins mix: Milt Bushey, the former York Suburban head football and baseball coach and physics teacher, will also be in the field. Bushey is now coaching baseball at Northeastern.

Bushey ran the Winter Series for the first time this past winter in preparation for the big day, and according to one reader, he looks 10 years younger now than when he retired five years ago. Bushey qualified for Boston at the Steamtown Marathon.

Second chance: Eric Wolfgang, 24, will head to Boston to try and improve his time from last year. Wolfgang, a third-grade teacher at North Hills Elementary, finished last year in 3 hours and 12 minutes. His goal this year is to crack the 3-hour barrier.

Final roundup: I am well aware that there is no way that I have hit all the local runners heading to Boston. Two others that I know of for sure are Kelly Devine and Flying Feet team member Thomas Brown Jr. If you know of any others, please send me an e-mail.
