It’s finally time.

After dominating YAIAA Division I for four years, Red Lion’s Meggan Quinn will take her game to Penn State next year.

But she had another fine year on her way out the door, leading this group of Lions to their fifth straight YAIAA title, handing York Catholic its only loss of the season in the process. For her efforts, she was named to the Associated Press Class AAAA first team.

What was your best moment of the year?

I’d have to say our county championship because we beat a team that was supposed to run away from us. There was speculation if we could keep up with York Catholic, but we proved we could and gave them their first and only loss of the year.

Was it important to you to finish your career with a fourth straight YAIAA tournament win?

It was an expectation more than anything else. At the beginning of the season when we mark out our goals that’s the first ... Heaven knows my senior year I did not want to lose because that’s ours.

Who in the league did you like matching up with the most?

Delone and Meredith Cox is always fun. They compare the two of us because we’re both going to Division I schools. It’s fun to match up with another player of her caliber and test your skills. We always help out each other but inside we want to beat the crap out of each other.

You want to be a police officer. Of your teammates, who would be the toughest collar?

Marley (Klunk) because she is a tough nut. She’d be the first one to admit I can take her down, but she wouldn’t give up if she knew she was going to be arrested. Not that she’d ever do (anything illegal).

If they made a movie of your life, who would play you?

Angelina Jolie, like in “Tomb Raider because she’s always willing to go. She’s tough, and that’s me. If I’m going down, everybody’s going to know I was there.

What would be the soundtrack to a movie of your life?

“Remember the Name by Fort Minor.

"It’s just 10 percent luck/ 20 percent skill/ 15 percent concentrated power of will/ 5 percent pleasure/ 50 percent pain/ and a hundred percent reason to remember the name."

That’s my song.

It was a disappointing season for Penn State women’s basketball. You committed as a junior. Why do you still want to go there?

Every year it’s different. They were a young team this year. I’m pumped. I expect to go in there and make a name for myself. My choice came down between Penn State and Maryland. Maryland just won a national championship. I’m glad to go into a place that’s kind of down because no one expects what we’re going to do next year.

Have you started doing workouts for Penn State?

I’ve already started lifting weights because I want to win a national championship. I didn’t win a district championship or a state championship, but a national championship is bigger than both of them.

Red Lion coach Don Dimoff is rather animated on the sideline. How did you get along with him?

First of all, he’s like a second father to me. We spend a lot of time together, and we talk on the phone every day. He gets us fired up. He’ll play with us in practice and all he does is talk smack, which gets us fired up and it gets him more fired up, and it goes in a circle. We live off his fuel ... I wish I could take him to Penn State with me, because if he was part of the deal, I’d take him in a heartbeat.

What is something about yourself most people wouldn’t know from watching you on the court?

A lot of people say I’m cocky. I’m actually completely opposite. I goof around. I’m just confident at what I do, and I work hard at what I do.

What’s your favorite TV show?

I’m feeling this “Prison Break right now.

Red Lion won a league title when you were in eighth grade and four while you were playing. What’s the future of the program?

They are a good team with me, and they’re a good team without me. I’ve always been the first one to give my teammates credit for letting me do what I’ve done with great passing and defense. Marley (Klunk), Mindy (Bennett) and Kendra (Ness) have all played well together and they’ll step up ... The kids coming up are saying, "We want to do this, and we want to do that." I’m excited to come back and watch them play because they’re going to be fun.
