The New York Times reports that ESPN has shelved “Bonds on Bonds, the documentary series about Barry Bonds. The network will run what will most likely be the last episodes of the series Thursday night and on Memorial Day.
ESPN said in a statement that it had put the series on “hiatus because of “Bonds’ health and home run pace.
Bonds has six home runs this season and 714 for his career, tied with Babe Ruth for second on the all-time list.
Rob Tobias, an ESPN spokesman, said the decision was not based on ratings. But the series is averaging a slim 0.5 rating (455,000 households), the New York Times reports.
