
York College men’s basketball player Brandon Bushey, a graduate of Littlestown High, has been named the 2005-06 Capital Athletic Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Bushey became just the second-student athlete in the history of the award to earn the honor in two consecutive seasons.
The award caps the outstanding career of Bushey, one of the most decorated student-athletes in the history of York College. In mid-May, Bushey became the first York College student-athlete to earn the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. (Read June 10 article)
Bushey completed his collegiate career with a grade-point average of 3.90 in criminal justice. That GPA allowed him to graduate Summa Cume Laude as he will head to Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the fall to continue his education as he pursues a master’s degree in criminology.
Bushey closed out his outstanding career in March as the Spartans made their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. He averaged 13.3 points per game as he led the Spartans to a mark of 25-4, including their second straight Capital Athletic Conference regular season championship.
For his career, Bushey finished with 1,719 points, which ranks fifth on the Spartans’ all-time scoring list. He leaves York College having played in a school record 111 games, in which he averaged 15.5 points per game
