Linebacker U. has added another top-line linebacker to its recruiting class.
Ohio high school linebacker Andrew Dailey (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) has given a verbal commitment to Penn State — the third linebacker of this recruiting class. Michigan’s Chris Colasanti and Nate Stupar, of State College, are the others.
All are rated as four-star prospects (out of five) by Scout.com, a national recruiting service. Dailey is listed as the No. 17 linebacker recruit in the nation by Scout.com.
Dailey, who is from Washington High in Massillon, Ohio, also received scholarship offers from Florida, Nebraska, Purdue, Indiana and Syracuse. He was receiving interest from powers such as Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State — but no scholarship offers.
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, said Bob Lichtenfels of Scout.com, who added that Ohio State probably is only going to take one linebacker recruit this year. “It is tough to pass up that kind of athlete.
Dailey reportedly has excellent speed and lateral quickness and has played safety in high school. Tom Lemming, a national recruiting expert based near Chicago, ranks Dailey as one of the top five defensive recruits in Ohio.
“He’s not a ready-made guy yet. He’s not as physical as he’s going to be in a another two years, Lemming said. But, “I really liked him because he’s got great athletic ability, and I think he’ll get better as his college career progresses because of that.
