Commentary by Jim Seip of the Daily Record/Sunday News:
The Tour de France has been around for more than 100 years, yet the U.S. has only produced three major players. But its list includes three very determined, very tough individuals.
Roll call:
--- Greg LeMond. Recovers from gunshot wound suffered in prime of his career — wins two more Tours.
--- Lance Armstrong. Cancer survivor, seven-time winner.
--- Floyd Landis. Needs hip replacement, sits in second place headed into Tuesday's stage.
Prognosis: Don’t get into cycling unless you enjoy pain.
