Manchester native played with Ted Williams

Penrose Miller, a Manchester native, died at age 92 on Sept. 10 in Lakeland, Fla. Some interesting facts, according to this story in The Ledger (Lakeland, Fla.):

-- Miller was the captain of the Penn State baseball team. He graduated from Penn State in 1936.
-- After graduating from Penn State, he signed with the Boston Red Sox organization.
-- Miller's grandson, Hank Sargent, says that Miller played alongside Ted WIlliams for a period of time in Boston's minor-league system.
-- Miller's baseball career came to an end at the start of World War II, when he went to work for Armstrong World Industries, a company that manufactured war materials.
