Central York football responds

It was the type of loss that makes you sick.

Central York took South Western, perhaps the best YAIAA team, to the final minute last Friday night, only to lose when the Mustangs foiled a two-point conversion. Afterward, heads hung in the locker room.

The Panthers coaching staff didn’t let anyone leave until they made it clear that the effort, not the result, was what mattered most for the young team.

The Panthers had big hopes coming into the season — another Division I title — but reality caught up with them.

They’ve kept games close, but have won only twice.

Coach Brad Livingston is taking the long view.

“(Before the season) I really wasn’t sure if we had the maturity to come back every week and try to get better with no guarantee that it’s going to happen, Livingston said. “If they continue to do that, they’ll be a success.
