Watch out! Records are falling

A lot of things went wrong for Red Lion when they lost to William Penn last week, but one thing was very right.

With his third catch of the night, senior wide out Trent Thomas broke the Lions’ record for catches in a season, set in 1979 by his father Dave Thomas.

When he came off the field, the younger Thomas looked up at his father and gave him a nod.

“I’m just glad he did it, Dave Thomas said. “If someone’s going to break it, it might as well be him.

Trent finished the night with a YAIAA-leading 50 catches, bringing his career total to 60. He’s now 7 receptions shy of Rich Shoff’s career mark of 67, set in 1978.

Meanwhile, at West York Rob Estep and Josh Koht are posting two of the best seasons in Bulldog history.

With 1,346 yards passing, Estep passed Steve Shanabrook’s single-season mark set in 1984. He is now closing in on Shanabrook’s number of passes attempted (currently 33 shy of Shanabrook’s 221) and completed (he needs 13 more to surpass 103).

Koht dragged in 36 of those balls, besting Steve Gilbert’s previous season mark of 35. His 749 receiving yards tops Jereme Plank, who went for 687.

Of course, Thomas, Estep and Koht still have two games to pad their totals.

Koht is highly overated and so is Estep. The real deal is Sietz from eastern and mike Kraft.

Mike also had another great receiver in Karanicolas. If only he had started playing before this year he would be the only one we are talking about.
