So how much can you bench?

You can't help but like Gene Rychlak Jr.

He's the big, scary-looking power lifter from Royersford. He's always ready to speak his mind. Always ready to tell you what's wrong with his sport. And always friendly.

But no matter how often we watch the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ge8PJp0ZGs), we can't believe this guy benches more than 1,000 pounds.

After suffering through almost two years of injuries and setbacks, Rychlak reclaimed his world record in the bench press on Dec. 16 when he pressed 1,010 pounds -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlDWdfTAx8o.

Up next? An April meet where Rychlak will attempt 1,050 pounds.

We can only think of one word: Ouch!
