Steelers get cut off

Pittsburgh Steelers fans in York have probably come to understand that — right or wrong — the Baltimore Ravens must be shown on CBS affiliate WHP-21 instead of the Steelers when both play at the same time.

But what happened Sunday must have seemed like a cruel joke, especially since the Steelers played at 1 p.m., and the Ravens started at 4:15.

With the Steelers and Bengals tied at 17 at the end of regulation, area viewers watched the coin toss as Pittsburgh prepared for overtime in Cincinnati. But then, at exactly 4:15, the network switched to the opening kickoff of the Ravens-Bills game.

Meanwhile, just three plays into the Pittsburgh overtime, Ben Roethlisberger hit Santonio Holmes for a 67-yard game-winning touchdown — a dramatic ending that most area Steelers fans did not see.

“We invest three hours into watching a game, said one angry Pittsburgh fan, “and it goes to overtime, and then you switch to show the opening kickoff of another game? It doesn’t make any sense.
