Still picks Penn State

The Nittany Lions appear to be building quite a defensive line for the future.

And the latest acquisition is Devon Still of Howard High in Wilmington, Del.

Still became the 18th member of this Penn State recruiting class on Wednesday when he picked the Lions over Ohio State. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive tackle has a four-star (out of five) rating by national recruiting services Scout.com and Rivals.com.

Recruits can make their verbal commitments binding on Feb. 7, national letter of intent day.

Still joins Kevion Latham, a Greensboro, N.C. defensive end recruit in this class. More importantly, though, he continues to build upon the highly-rated defensive line class hauled in by the Lions last year which included Maurice Evans, Jared Odrick, Phil Taylor, Aaron Maybin and Tom McEowen.

“Few defensive linemen in the country are as talented as (Still), said Jeremy Crabtree, the Kansas City, Kan.-based recruiting editor for Rivals.com. “Very few linemen have a motor that goes like his.

“He’s the kind of kid who you could make an argument for being in your top 100 (players in the nation), said Bob Lichtenfels of Scout.com. “He’s as good as anyone from 51 to 100.

Penn State assistant coach Larry Johnson, the team’s defensive line coach and ace recruiter, made the difference, Still told FightOnState.com.

“It all came down to me having a better connection with Coach Larry Johnson .¤.¤. than I did with Coach (Jim) Heacock at Ohio State.

Today, the Lions expect to learn the decision of Rochester, Pa. wide receiver Derek Moye (6-5, 180 pounds). He is choosing between Penn State and Pitt.
