Eastern York graduate Katie Vican, a freshman at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Fla., has been named the Florida Sun Conference Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year in women’s basketball.
Vican became the first player in Florida Sun Conference history to win both awards in the same season. She led the conference with 14.9 points per game, reaching double figures in scoring in 22 of 29 games.
She also added 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game, helping the Seahawks to an 18-12 record.
