York native Butch Wynegar is back in Yankee pinstripes. The former 13-year major-league veteran joined the staff of the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees as hitting coach during the offseason.
The Milwaukee Brewers released the 50-year-old Wynegar as hitting coach at the end of last season after a four-year stint.
"I’m tickled to be back with the Yankees’ organization,” said Wynegar, who caught for New York from 1982 through 1986. “I had some good times, and some ups and downs with the Yankees. But it’s always exciting to be part of the Yankees.”
