It seems as if Dan Connor has a new position.
And a new football body to go with it.
With the beginning of spring workouts, the Penn State senior-to-be appears to be moving from outside linebacker to middle linebacker -- the same move that All-American Paul Posluszny made before his senior season.
Connor also has added up to 10 pounds of weight, to get to 235, to better handle the rigors of playing inside.
"Yeah, that's probably where he belongs, in the middle," said Penn State coach Joe Paterno. "But don't hold me to it."
Nonetheless, the switch makes sense. Connor played the position in high school and is the most experienced linebacker to handle the reponsibilities of playing inside.
But how will it pay off for the Lions, especially early in the season? Last year, it took Posluszny several games to seem accustomed to his new role.
The move, though, will open up the outside spot opposite Sean Lee. For now, it appears that junior Tyrell Sales could be the starter there.
