PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are raising ticket prices a season after fans had to lower their expectations for the team.

The team has not released the new prices, but the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported the increase Thursday based upon invoices being received by season ticket holders that include the price hikes.

Tickets that cost $55 last season cost $60 dollars for next season. Seats that cost $62 are rising to $70.

Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said the team periodically raises prices to stay competitive with other teams.

The team did not raise ticket prices following their win in the 2006 Super Bowl. This price hike comes after the team went 8-8 and missed the playoffs last season.
