Back on June 20, someone with the name "Dude" posted an e-mail about my post titled "Shamrock vs. Baroni: Grudge Match Galore." Dude said he tried to see the video of the Mauricio "Shogun" Rua-Mark Coleman post-fight melee, but apparently, it cannot be accessed on Youtube any more.
My guess is that Pride videos - now that they are the property of the UFC - will be taken off Youtube, because of potential copyright infringement.
Anyway, Dude, in the video, Coleman takes Rua down and Rua puts one of his arms back to brace the fall - it twists in an unnatural way - a sick break. Coleman, still, in fight mode, keeps pounding on Rua as the ref tries to restrain him. Mix in members of Chute Boxe and Hammerhouse jumping into the ring and presto - instant brawl.
At a later press conference, a still-fired-up Coleman says proudly (and repeatedly), "I did that to him." Hmmm... looked like a freak accident to me.
Later, there's a confrontation in the hallways of the arena with Coleman's team, Hammerhouse, on one side and members of Chute Boxe (Rua's team) on the other. Looks like Rua's teammate Wanderlei Silva was angry about his throat getting stepped on in the ring and wanted revenge. Looks like nobody wanted anything to do with "The Axe Murderer."
So, Dude, here's the video on the confrontation in the hallway. Sorry about the first one. By the way, your name reminds me of a song called "Don't call me dude," by Scatterbrain .. yeah, I'm old and livin' the 80s ...
