— There’s a long-running feud between boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. Seems like recently, boxers, feeling the pressure of MMA’s rising popularity, have been trashing the sport, just to get some publicity for their upcoming fights. Well, here’s a unique perspective, as it comes from a guy who fights in both sports. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19980216/
— Further MMA Global Domination – I forgot to mention there’s a growing promotion in Russia known as M-1. Here’s the link: http://www.mixfight.ru
— Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott is shaping up to be the battle of the old timers. Even if Kimbo claims he’s 33, I still say he’s at least 10 years older, with that bald head o’ his. Tank has gotta be pushing 50 (OK, he’s actually 42). Most fighters try to build on their previous fights, seeking tougher competition. I’m not sure Tank is that much of an improvement over Ray Mercer — Tank has lost seven of his last eight fights, most by KO or TKO.
— UFC has confirmed that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will fight for them at an upcoming card against Forrest Griffin. Some have criticized this match, saying Griffin has no chance against the man who some believe is the #1 light-heavyweight in the world. Others say Griffin might be able to find a way to win against Shogun, or at least put up a good fight. I say, let ‘em fight, Shogun takes it, then let’s see some more competitive bouts like Shogun versus Sokoudjou (if the UFC signs him), Henderson, Liddell and Jackson.
— Read recently that Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva is moving to America and only wants the best for his son, who he wants to be fighter. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson also has a young son, who I’m sure wants to emulate his dad. So, about 25 years from now, are we going to see Silva vs. Jackson III? Maybe we won’t have to wait nearly that long if Wandy gets a couple wins in the UFC and Jackson holds on to the light-heavyweight title. Silva by knees from the clinch, yet again.
