York College women’s soccer players Emily Sullivan and Meagan Cahill have earned ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA District II Academic All-America honors.

Sullivan’s efforts during the 2007 season garnered a first-team selection, while Cahill was a third-team choice.

This is Sullivan’s second career selection. She was named to the second team as a sophomore in 2005.

The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Sullivan has provided the Spartans with a steady presence in the middle of the pitch throughout the season. In 20 matches in 2007, Sullivan scored five goals and distributed seven assists. She is tied for second on the team with 17 points.

Sullivan is a three-time All-Capital Athletic Conference first-team selection. She was also named the conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2004, posting 14 goals and nine assists in her freshman campaign. Sullivan is also York’s career leader in assists with 34.

She sports a 3.96 GPA as a mathematics major.

Cahill draws her first Academic All-America District II accolade in her first season as York’s starting goalkeeper. The junior has a 0.81 goals against average in 15 contests this season.

She sports a record of 9-3-3 with five shutouts. She has made 42 saves and a .778 save percentage.

A nursing major, Cahill posts a 3.83 GPA.

The Spartans travel to Salisbury, Md., on Saturday for a noon battle with the Sea Gulls for the CAC championship. The winner receives the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
