Back in the fold

The York Revolution can start concentrating on signing players now.

The coaching staff is set.

The team announced Wednesday that hitting coach Ryan Minor and pitching coach Tippy Martinez will return for a second season in York. The two worked under first-year skipper Chris Hoiles last season. After surviving a difficult first half, the Revolution remained in contention for the Atlantic League South Division's second-half championship until late August when injuries derailed the expansion club.

The move should allow the Revolution to retain some of its players from 2007, after coaches established relationships throughout the league. The move also avoids the uncertainty of the inaugural season, where only Minor had coaching experience in the independent Atlantic League.

The only question mark remains part-time coach Al Bumbry. Bumbry led spring training drills for outfielders and conducted clinics on baserunning, but he did not travel with the team and only attended home games.

The team will continue to pursue options for Bumbry.
