Palmer main draw for Revs reception

| | Comments (0)

Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer will deliver the keynote address at the York Revolution's hot stove reception Feb. 6 at the Valencia Ballroom in York.

Palmer has been a visible presence with the Orioles since he burst on the national scene by outdueling Sandy Koufax in Game 2 of the 1966 World Series. Palmer defeated the defending World Series champions, shutting out the Dodgers with a four-hit complete-game victory..

A first-ballot Hall of Fame selection in 1990, Palmer has provided color commentary and analysis for O's broadcasts since 1992.

The right-hander fueded with longtime Baltimore manager Earl Weaver for most his career, but the two were irreplaceable parts on Baltimore's juggernaut teams of the 1970s. Palmer won 20 games in all but two seasons of the decade, and Weaver demanded more and more.

More guests and speakers at the Revs first-ever hot stove event will be announced later.
