Former Dallastown swimming teammates are together again at the next level.
This past fall, Wildcat grads Lauren Botterbusch and Steve Croucher became mates at Ithaca College.
Botterbusch, a junior at the upstate New York school, was a four-time all-star in high school and hasn’t slowed down since.
She is off to another great start this season, after competing in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke at the previous two NCAA Championships, the same events she was the Empire 8 Conference champion during her freshman and sophomore seasons and was a part of a conference record-breaking 200 yard medley relay.
This season Botterbusch has posted the Bombers’ best times in both the 100 (1:08.46) and 200 (2:28.82) breast, as well as the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.95, helping the women post a 6-3 record.
In 2006, she established new Ithaca records in both breaststroke events and is a member of the school-record setting 200 medley relay team and tops it off by being named to the NYSWCAA All-Academic Team.
Croucher joined Botterbusch on the campus of Ithaca and has been a solid contributor as a freshman for the Bombers.
He has been a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team that has been strong in both dual meets and invitationals. That relay has been a key performer for Ithaca’s 11-4 men’s team.
Individually, Croucher's time of 57.75 is the Bombers’ best posted time so far this season and he has the school's second best time in the 200 free this season with a 50.38.
One liners: According to ESPN, Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis is trying to lure coach Lane Kiffin into signing a letter of resignation drafted – of course – by Davis himself. After granting Kiffin more control in personnel matter when hired only one year ago, Davis now wants that control back. Gee, Al Davis going back on his word … what are the chances?
