Beckley...again

| | Comments (0)

Once again former Fairfield star and Shippensburg University sophomore Lauren Beckley was named the PSAC West Player of the Week.

She is single handedly making this blog redundant.

This time the award, Beckley's fifth of the season, comes on the heels of her scoring a school-record 47 points in the Red Raiders (17-7) win at Lock Haven last Wednesday. She broke the mark of 45 set by her coach, Kristy Trn, and fell one point shy of the conference record.

Beckley also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in that contest, then followed up that performance with a 32-point, 18-rebound effort against Clarion.

It was the 19th time this season, and 10th straight game, she has recorded a double-double.

With three games remaining, Beckley has 562 points this season and is just 109 shy of breaking Shippensburg's single-season record of 670 set by Tracy Spencer during the 1995-96 season.

Her average of 23.4 points per game is second in the nation.

Sports shorts: At least guys like Andy Pettitte, Brian Roberts and Jay Gibbons had the guts to acknowledge their mistakes after being implicated of doing steroids and/or hGH by baseball's Mitchell Report.
I think the guys who come out admit their mistakes will find a forgiving fan base.
Fans hate being lied to like some other notables are doing.
