Behind Nikki Lobach’s 24 points, Messiah College knocked off Albright, 65-52, on Wednesday and maintained first place in the MAC Commonwealth Conference.
Not that is should come as a surprise to anyone that the South Western graduate led the Falcons, who improved to 18-2, 5-0 in the league.
The win for was even more impressive for ninth-ranked Messiah considering Albright is 16-4 and teams were tied for first in the Commonwealth entering the game.
Lobach has averaged 17.3 points per game. She has a team-high 118 field goals in 211 attempts, for a torrid shooting percentage of .559.
The senior also leads the Falcons with her 95 free throws made in 122 tries (.779) and is 14-of-32 from 3-point land.
Defensively, the 5-foot-9 Lobach tops her squad in steals with 36 and pulls down three boards a game from her guard position.
The former Mustang star – and reigning Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year – isn’t the only YAIAA player on Messiah. She was joined this season by 2007 Delone Catholic grad Michelle Schleich.
The freshman Schleich has appeared in 19 games, playing nine and a half minutes per contest, pulling down 37 rebounds in her limited time.
One liners: A day after top recruits from all over the nation signed their football letters of intent, it is becoming even more apparent that the Big 10 is falling behind – way behind – other conferences in recruiting.
