Smith fits right in at Dickinson

| | Comments (0)

For only a freshman, Tim Smith is an integral part of the Dickinson College football team.

The 2007 South Western grad played in all 11 games for the 9-2 Red Devil, carring the ball 121 times for 495 yards, an average of 4.1 yards per carry and scored six touchdowns.

He also caught four passes and returned 10 kickoffs, one year after being a 1,000-yard rusher with the Mustangs, but in high school he actually might have made his name on the other side of the ball.

As a senior at South Western, Smith was the YAIAA Division I Defensive Player of the Year and. clinched a Mustangs win by intercepting a late in the game against Manheim Central in the District 3 Class AAA playoffs that eliminated the three-time defending champs. He was a defensive all-star during his junior year.

Joining Smith on the Dickinson football squad is Spring Grove alum Zachary Abel, who played linebacker the last two seasons.

Abel, a senior, had a hand in 16 tackles for the Red Devils this past fall, including seven solo stops.

Other YAIAA athletes found on the Dickinson rosters include freshman Tyler Derreth, a South Western grad, who has scored good points swimming the sprint events.

Sport shorts: So we are supposed to believe that Roger Clemens didn’t do steroids or HGH just because he “openly” spoke in front of congress.
Hmm… let’s see, his closest friend admitted to doing them. A former friend admitted to selling them and above all Clemens’ wife even admitted to taking HGH for a swimsuit pose.
Yet, despite all of these factors, Clemens, who clearly feels he is untouchable, didn’t do them.
Yeah, right.
