Zarilla leaves his mark at Dover

Taking into account the history of the Dover boys' basketball program, achievements that might seem moderately impressive by some standards are reasons to celebrate for the Eagles.

Like qualifying for the District 3 Class AAA tournament for the second year in a row.

The Eagles, who qualified for the second straight time this season, had not made back-to-back postseason appearances since 1990-91 and 1991-92. Senior guard Colt Zarilla was a major part of making it happen.

Zarilla became the sixth player in school history to score 1,000 points, finishing with 1,010 after the Eagles lost to eventual district champion Susquehanna Township last week. He also set the record for most 3-pointers in a season with 66, passing Jeff Young's mark of 54 set in 1990 and most 3-pointers in a career with 150, passing Mike Shue's mark of 129 set in 1993.

Banner victories for Dover this season include home triumphs over William Penn and eventual YAIAA champion West York, but the Eagles failed to qualify for the YAIAA tournament themselves, finishing with a record of 6-8 in Section 2.
