Christ caps awesome career

Jess Christ made the most of her final year at Mansfield University.

The Dover grad led the Mountaineer regulars in eight offensive categories, including hits with 36, doubles (7) and tied for the lead in RBI’s with 14. Her .400 batting average was also the team’s best.

Christ was tops in total bases (43), slugging percentage (.478), sacrifice hits (5) and being hit by a pitch (5).

She started 31 games for the 13-20 squad and most impressively struck out just five times in 90 at bats in the tough PSAC.

Recently, the second baseman was named to the all-PSAC second team and leaves as Mansfield’s career leader in doubles with 30. Her career .375 average is second in school history as well.

Christ led the team in several categories last season and the former Eagle is a Mountaineers’ Presidential Scholar Athlete as a secondary education-math major.

I saw her play a couple of times back at Dover and her success is well deserved. Congrats Jess.
