Fox Sports Network's "Amazing Sports Stories" will highlight one of Pennsylvania's more interesting sports stories at 8 p.m. Sunday with the episode "The Steagles: When Rivals Became Teammates"

According to Fox Sports: "The Steagles episode portrays the unforgettable story of a team of rival underdogs who banded together in order to save the National Football League during World War II. With America in the midst of World War II, in 1943 the NFL faced a crisis. Since every NFL team was losing so many players, coaches and owners to the various military branches it was forced to merge two rival teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers, as one. And so the 'Steagles' were born. The Steagles, officially known as the Eagles at the time, were made up of a unique roster of military draft rejects with typical injuries varying from perforated eardrums, ulcers, and partial blindness to flat feet."
