Lions land three more
Penn State football recruiting continues to thrive off its Maryland pipeline.
The Nittany Lions recently landed three more verbal commitments from high school recruits in defensive end Sean Stanley from Gaithersburg, Md., cornerback Stephon Morris from Greenbelt, Md. and receiver Brendon Felder of Oxon Hill, Md.
That gives the Lions 11 commitments in their class — six from Maryland. Morris also is the fifth defensive back in the group.
Stanley (6-foot-2, 245 pounds) has collected scholarship offers from the likes of Michigan, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Nebraska. He is rated a four-star prospect (out of five) by Scout.com.
Morris is not rated as highly as Stanley or Darrell Givens, another standout Maryland defensive back in this class, but some recruiting gurus still predict big things.
The 5-9 corner is undersized but is strong, fast and is the son of a high school coach.
“A big-time, legit cover corner,” said Tom Lemming, a national recruiting analyst for CBS College Sports.
Felder (6-3, 165) chose the Lions over Boston College, Maryland and others. Though not highly rated, he is the first pure receiver recruit so far -- a position that is a top priority this year for the Lions.
