Rohrbaugh stars where it counts
The obvious question might have been how could Becky Rohrbaugh duplicate the amazing things she did while at Susquehannock High School.
After all, Rohrbaugh was a three-year standout on the Warriors girls’ volleyball team and was the school’s salutatorian upon her graduation in 2004, before moving on to Widener University.
The Railroad native had a terrific senior season, leading the Pride with 1,187 assists while playing all 118 games for the team which finished 16-19 in match play.
She was second on the team with 36 aces and added 282 digs. Her 2,862 career assists leave her second in Widener history in that category.
For good measure Rohrbaugh was named the university’s co-valedictorian, along with teammate Rachel Chizmadia after each posted 4.0 grade-point averages.
Rohrbaugh, and elementary education/early childhood major, made the MAC honor roll twice and was named to the CoSida Academic All-District team.
Safe to say with these accomplishments on and off the volleyball court, she did just fine at the next level and those of us who are parents would love our children to emulate people like Becky Rohrbaugh.
Sport shorts: Need to know how much money talks?
Just look at the NBA where Mike D’Antoni accepted the payday to coach the league laughingstock New York Knicks.
The former Phoenix Suns coach likes an up-tempo, high-scoring style, but who on the Knicks can play that way?
Plus, D’Antoni previously feuded with New York guard Stephon Marbury while both were with the Suns.
This sounds like another recipe for disaster for a franchise that just got rid of Isiah Thomas.
