Penn State-Syracuse game set

The renewal of the Penn State-Syracuse rivalry on Sept. 13 in the Carrier Dome will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised by ABC.

The Nittany Lions and Syracuse will be meeting for the first time since Penn State earned a 27-21 victory in Beaver Stadium in 1990. The teams last played in Syracuse in 1989, the Lions winning, 34-12.

The teams met every season from 1944-1990 with Penn State holding a 40-23-5 advantage. Syracuse will visit Beaver Stadium on Sept. 12, 2009.

Penn State’s other previously announced television games for the upcoming season include vs. Illinois on Sept. 27, at Wisconsin on Oct. 11 and at Ohio State on Oct. 25 — all 8 p.m. starts. Penn State’s homecoming game against Michigan on Oct. 18 will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium.

All of those contests will air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
