The Road Warriors

On Friday, the “road” Warriors struck again as Susquehannock took the long road to the PIAA Class AAA championship.

For the second consecutive year, the Warriors finished third in the District 3 playoffs and had to go through the western bracket of the state playoffs.

The formula worked again as Susquehannock knocked off previously unbeaten Milton Area for its second championship, much to the detriment of athletic director Chuck Abbott’s budget.

The additional travel on coach buses heading to places like Boalsburg, Altoona, Bedford and of course, Shippensburg for the title games, certainly racked up some expenses.

Abbott wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It is well worth the price,” he said. “When you do what they do it is just awesome. When the chips are down they seem to be able to turn in up and get the job done.”

Just like on Friday.
