Nemo scratched from card

Perhaps it's a precursor of what type of show TKO Promotions will put on in a little under 30 minutes.

It could be bad luck.

But there is no denying promoters failed to deliver when they scratched York's Eric Nemo from the professional boxing card at the Valencia Ballroom.

Nemo (6-1-1) was one of the headliners for the event, and a seven-bout card has suddenly shrunk to five. It looks low-class. It looks lazy.

"Everybody pulled out," Nemo said. "They were frantically looking for a fighter for me last night.

"It's terrible. You never expect it, but you really don't expect it to happen in the pros."

A crowd of about 700 is expected for the fights, and fans paid anywhere from $25 to $100 for tickets. The main event with Carney "Beeper" Bowman is still scheduled, and Stevie Weimer will make his pro debut. But Nemo may have been the second-biggest name on the card when it comes to putting fans in the building.

"It's heartbreaking. I was looking forward to this," Nemo said. "I was looking forward to putting on a show for people."
