Wow. These twins are something special
Twins played to amazing reviews this fall at the University of Delaware.
And no we don't mean the bad 80's movie with Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, we are referring to former York Suburban cross country standouts Christina and Yianna Antonopoulos.
The 2005 Suburban grads recently finished their athletic sophomore years of eligibility with the Blue Hens indoor and outdoor track and cross country teams.
Both had standout seasons on and off the field.
In May, Christina was named Delaware cross country's MVP after her standout season in which led the distance runners in six of eight meets.
She was a first-team all Colonial Athletic Association selection after placing eighth at the conference championship meet.
While Yianna might not have had the amazing times Christina posted all year, she was still very good in her own right, finishing 35th at the CAA championships.
The duo was very good in the distrance events during the Blue Hens indoor and outdoor track seasons.
They are members of the Delaware soccer club, which makes perfect sense since they were all-stars in the sport at York Suburban
But with these young ladies, that is just half the story.
Both Christina and Yianna were College Sports Information Director Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-American nominees because of their classroom commitment this academic year.
Certainly that is very impressive, but here is the kicker: They are both biochemistry majors.
Biochemistry?
Are you kidding me? I can hardly spell the word, much less study it.
Oh, by they way the pair also have minors in German.
Each speak for languages, English, Greek, German and French.
Geez, I feel inferior.
All jokes aside, Christina and Yianna Antonopoulos are the types of kids that can make us all proud.
Well done ladies.
Note: Now that it is summer, I don't receive nearly as many updates from various colleges as during the academic year. So, I am asking lineupcard blog readers if they know of any individuals I should check out for the College Spotlight blog to please let me know, via email snavaroli@ydr.com or phone 771-2060. Thank you.
