Littlestown alum Brett Stoops will begin the season listed as Shippensburg University's No. 1 right-halfback.

The redshirt-junior appeared in seven games last season and carried the ball three times for an impressive 29 yards, although 22 of those were on one carry against Lock Haven.

The 5-foot-10, 178-pound Stoops also caught one pass for five yards. He also returned one kickoff for 19 yards and was involved in two tackles on Red Raiders special teams.

While, Shippensburg is typically a fullback oriented rushing attack (see Dover grad John Kuhn), Stoops should still get his share of touches, particularly as a receiver out of the backfield, an asset he had with the Thunderbolts.

At Littlestown, the 2005 grad rushed 284 times for 1,482 yards (5.2 yards per carry) and 20 touchdowns as a senior. He also caught 31 passes for 402 yards, with two more scores and was the Division III player of the year in 2004 (senior).
