Week 5 Wrap Up

DTownWeek5.jpg

Perfection is plentiful in the YAIAA.

The season is halfway over, but William Penn, Dallastown, Littlestown and Delone Catholic have still been untouchable this year. Not too shabby.

The only close contest of the week was the inter-divisional tilt between Kennard-Dale and York Catholic, which the Rams pulled out by three points. Otherwise, it was all big wins from favored teams, with Central, West York, York Suburban and Biglerville, among others joining their perfect brethren in the win column.

Among the undefeateds, William Penn and Delone Catholic have impressed the most. The Bearcats have dominated every week and set a new season-high with 66 points against Dover on Friday. That makes it 281 for the season for an average of 56.2 points per game. The Squires ran all over Fairfield and have not had an off week yet in 2008.

Littlestown could have been in big trouble early if the Susquehannock receiving corps pulled in open downfield passes, but the Thunderbolts caught a couple breaks and came through with scores when they needed them in a road beatdown of the Warriors a week after allowing 42 points in a win over Suburban.

Dallastown also had a nice recovery after a close win over New Oxford in Week 4, stepping up its defense and making a statement at home against South Western with a 27-0 win. Of course, next week Dallastown will have to face a Central York team that has won four in a row and pummeled that same New Oxford squad that kept it competitive against the Wildcats by a 61-0 margin.

On that note, can you guess the thing these four 5-0 squads have in common beyond their 5-0 records? Each squad faces tougher opponents in the second-half of the season. What, you thought perfection was easy?

YORK HIGH IS THE BEST!!! NONE OF THESE OTHER "UNDEFEATED" TEAMS EVEN COME CLOSE. I WISH WE COULD PLAY ALL OF THEM AND SHOW THE REST OF THE STATE THAT "THE HIGH" IS THE TRUTH. BUT WHEN WE PLAY D-TOWN WE'LL MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF THEM. THE REST OF THE STATE BETTA BE READY CUZ YORK HIGH WILL DEFINITELY BE AT HERSHEY THIS YEAR!!!!
