Week 9 Wrap Up

If Central's win was too close for comfort, coach Brad Livingston wasn't showing much concern.

"In all seriousness, it's just who wins the game," Livingston said after Friday's victory over Red Lion. "Quite honestly, most of the decisions that were made in that game, if not all of them, from the get-go were about just winning the game."

So maybe the two close calls for Division I powers Central (8-1, 6-0) and William Penn (9-0, 6-0) aren't cause for concern. Livingston seemed pleased that the Panthers were able to deliver when the pressure was on in the fourth quarter. Matt Ortega got a chance to let his Bearcats starters play the entire game.

Ideally, it all means that Friday's Halloween showdown with be that much better. Fingers crossed.

In other action, West York again won with ease, Delone rebounded nicely at the expense of York Catholic, York Suburban greatly improved its postseason prospects with a narrow victory over Kennard-Dale and Bermudian, Biglerville and Littlestown all won big.

Dallastown proved that it is still legit with a win over Spring Grove, bettering last season's total with its seventh win. Playoff berth or not, I doubt the Wildcats will feel satisfied unless they beat archrival Red Lion next week. Knowing I'll be missing that contest is the only downside about covering William Penn-Central on Friday.

Among the non-playoff teams there were a couple of morale-boosting wins Friday night, including Dover beating New Oxford in its home finale to ensure 2008 wouldn't be a winless season and Northeastern snapping a seven-game losing streak with a narrow victory at Fairfield.

I think it's safe to say that those two teams probably enjoyed their victories more than any of the other YAIAA squads this week.

Well week 9 was very interesting. South Western played York High the toughest anyone has all year. The High didnt look as good as everyone hyped them up to be. Everyone in this area thought SW was going to get killed and they didnt. Can you say OVER-RATED?? All people said all week was about #12 on their team..Well he didnt look like a D1 prospect to me!!! He got shut down! Go Central this week
