When I looked at the schedule back in late November, attempting to pick out the matches I felt needed to be covered in the paper, one date jumped out - January 24th.
Considering the recent trends in both wrestling divisions, that day loomed as a climax to another fun YAIAA wrestling season if - and that was a big 'if' - teams did what was expected of them through December and most of January.
And the four teams - Bermudian Springs, Biglerville, South Western and Spring Grove - did just that.
Let's start in Division I....
Wednesday, the Rockets met the challenge of Red Lion in an entertaining dual to remain unbeaten in league action as well as overall. So Saturday, the Rockets will travel up Route 116 to tackle South Western. A Spring Grove win makes the Papertown squad the lone champion for the second straight season. However, a Mustang win gives them a share of the D-I crown and opens the door for a tri-champion (Red Lion would gain a share if it beats Dallastown in their regular season finale).
Then in Division II ....
Biglerville and Bermudian Springs earned comfortable wins over York Suburban and Eastern York, respectively, Thursday to make it a winner-take-all match in Canner town Saturday. The winner of this match not only claims the solo crown but puts itself in position for a top-two seed in next week's District 3 Class AA Team Wrestling Tournament.
Now there's only one problem .... which match do you go to???
