William Penn's team concept

The William Penn boys' basketball team has played the toughest schedule in the YAIAA as far as I can tell and has still managed to go undefeated through 14 games. This after a year where the Bearcats failed to capture the Division I title and went 1-3 in the postseason to miss out on qualifying for the state tournament.

After Wednesday's 17-point win over Red Lion, William Penn coach Troy Sowers said the difference this year is more than just improved play from his players on the court. It has a lot to do with attitude.

"This team loves each other and works hard for each other ," Sowers said. "This is a special group of kids. They have dedicated themselves to think team and team only."

It would be hard for any impartial observer to claim the Bearcats play selfishly on the floor. Sowers said he has five players averaging double-digits in points. On Wednesday, those scorers were starters Malachi Leonard, Kelvin Parker, Chemin Lambert, Ryan Matthews and Malik Generett (above).

The Bearcats' on-court maturity level seems to be among the league's best, and with players less concerned with getting their points as they are ensuring a team victory, William Penn looks to have its best chance at nabbing a District 3 title in years.

Hey hoopfan, York has played 6 top-25 ranked state teams, and beat them all.

They are ranked #3 in the state @ Maxpreps.com

Just shut up some times and congratulate.
